ChatGPT: My Opinion.

I have a few thoughts on ChatGPT. It was released back in November 2022 by Open AI. It’s a chatbot that uses AI to fetch answers to your questions. I have no idea how it works, if you’re an expert, consider enlightening me with a simplified explanation of what’s going on there. For the first time, I tried out ChatGPT to get a not-so-important assignment done. It was cool, like, I completed the work in a fraction of the time that it’d have taken otherwise. And I was very quick to weigh the advantages and repercussions that it could have on students and professionals.

Talking of the good stuff, it’s pretty accurate. It gives reasonably good facts in a very well-assorted manner that even a layman would understand. The results are acceptably concise and educative enough. One can just copy and paste into a word file and submit it, that’s how good it is. And these things keep learning from their past experiences, so it’s bound to get better over time.

On the flip side of the coin, it is apparent why institutions are banning students from using it. The results are almost indistinguishable from what any average student with decent English skills would write: simple, short and crisp. I typed a few keywords, and it was very quick to come up with an answer, which I immediately copy-paste onto a file and submitted. That is where, in my opinion, the whole trouble lies. I never really cared to read and understand what’s written in it and that’ll be the case with a lot of other students. It’s the default human tendency to get work done faster by all possible means and while away time. That defies the whole point of assigning work to students. Tutors want students to find answers to the questions by themselves so that they might learn a thing or two. This is against the whole concept of assignments, and that is a concern. People with relatively poor English skills tend to develop them better while finding their own answers. Creative ideas will dwindle as AI takes over all that work. ChatGPT is way different from Google’s current capabilities. But let’s not forget that Google’s place is immune to almost anything on the web; all these AI platforms source their data from Google. Some might argue that it will improve the efficiency of a worker by providing him with error-free and accurate answers quickly. I completely agree with that, but my opinion is spllit.

Technology is always a boon when utilised properly but it’s a curse when it falls into the wrong hands. To prevent the occurrence of ill-fated outcomes that might threaten people and countries, governments should work together with experts and come up with solutions to regulate the functioning of the program on certain critical aspects.

Do let me know what you think of this in the comments below.

Traditional Medicine

A lot of things are happening in the world right now. People are spreading fake news and false criticism all over social media. This is my say on traditional medicine and why people are against it. Hello everyone! I hope you are doing fine. There was a row among people regarding traditional medicines and modern ones. This is what I'll address in this blog with my personal views and arguments. These are hard times. The whole human race is at stake. The invisible is taking its toll on humanity. The doctors and scientists are doing their best to save people. They try to cure one and another disease pops up. This doesn’t seem to show any signs of immediate defeat. So as an alternative why don't they just try traditional medicine? World leaders consider India a nation potential of finding a viable cure for the disease. India is one of the very few places where medicinal herbs and traditional medicines are very well documented, preserved and available to everyone. We are supposed...

The future of Land transport: Is it Electric? - Part 01

Electric vehicles have drawn so much attention lately. Governments all over the world are introducing subsidies and concessions to convince people to adopt EVs faster. All this leaves us with many fundamental questions: Why is the adoption of EVs even required? Is electric transport the future? How far are EVs sustainable? and many more. This blog series is all about addressing these fundamental questions and give a detailed insight on electric transport and EVs holistically. What are EVs? As the name suggests: "Electric Vehicles", these run on electricity. Electric energy is stored in the form of chemical energy in storage batteries which are then fed to the DC motors that power the vehicle to move. On the other hand, electric trains including metro and monorails run on electricity derived from the live feed wire above or below them. The working of electric trains is beyond the scope of this blog. What are the types of EVs available in the market? 1. Battery EVs 2. Plug-in H...
